Bringing the Tropics to the City

Transport Your Guests Somewhere Warmer

Michigan is not particularly a state in which tropical weather occurs, in fact, it’s known for having some of the most brutal winters in history. The unfortunate luck of geography doesn’t stop these Michigan brides from having the tropical wedding they’ve always dreamed of!

Using birds of paradise and delicate orchids, instead of the traditional roses, is a fantastic way to make any bridal bouquet look like it’s meant for a wedding down in the Caribbean. These bright orange tones mimic the colors of a beautiful sun setting somewhere on a beach. It really is all about the bold color too, so think fuchsia, orange, blue, purple and green.

Nothing screams tropical beaches much like palm trees, so incorporating palm leaves into centerpieces is great way to transform a reception space. Even the little pineapple table numbers add a fun element while keeping with the theme. This particular wedding was held outdoors during the warm summer months in Michigan so it really did feel like the tropics once you walked under the tent!

Posh Petals really helped to bring the tropics to the city with this wedding at The Ballroom @ City Flats. We had never done a wedding like this at City Flats before, but just last month we realized that it fits so well! The bright and bold colors truly stand out in this grand setting. The blue uplighting, table linens and runners imitate the beautiful blue ocean that made us all think we were on a tropical island.

Who says you can’t have a certain theme based on where you live? At Posh Petals, we can help make your wedding dreams come to life, no matter the theme, using floral and decor! Contact us now to set up a consultation.
